American Muslim Democratic Caucus (AMDC)
The American Muslim Democratic Caucus (AMDC) is the only national partisan political caucus led by American Muslims. AMDC serves as a united body to mobilize American Muslims in the electoral process; to elect progressive democrats, advocate for the highest degree of justice, equity, and social welfare, and train the next generation.
AMDC reflects the broad diversity of multi-ethnic, multi-racial American Muslims composed of chapters chartered in the United States, including the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa.
Our programs engage American Muslims through their local, state, and regional programming, and nationally through events like our quarterly national meetings, national conventions, issue advocacy, candidate and campaign trainings. AMDC is open to all Democrats who share our vision and bring their unique and awakening voice of passion, compassion, and ideas to promote political advocacy.
AMDC is a national caucus committed to supporting our state and local chapters with the tools they need to succeed in organizing and growing our collective voice across the country. AMDC serves as coordinating body, structured to provide members the opportunity to collaborate with peers from across the nation and sharpen their political skills.
To Educate, Elect and Empower American Muslim Democrats in every corner of the country.
The mission of the American Muslim Democratic Caucus (AMDC) is to build and amplify the collective voice of American Muslim Democrats within the Democratic Party.
AMDC is achieving this mission by
Providing leadership and development for a strong infrastructure of support for the uniquely diverse; multi-racial, and multi ethnic American Muslim Communities.
Facilitating the exchange of ideas and information to address critical issues affecting our communities, foster dialogue, and identify growth.
Stimulating a participating interest in public policy and harnessing our political power towards a more representative government for all Americans.
Developing strategic research and resources in advancing American Muslim representation that is not only a matter of democratic fairness, but influences policy agendas and debates, as well as the political engagement of our diverse and underrepresented constituencies.
Setting a foundation of development and scholarship opportunities to educate the next generation of much needed American Muslim Officeholders.
The American Muslim Democratic Caucus (AMDC) established in 2014 as a statewide caucus to unite and provide representation for American Muslim Democrats within the Florida Democratic Party.
In response to the community and societal need for greater representation in political spaces, on Feb 12, 2017, a group of 14 diverse American Muslim women and men came together in Baltimore Maryland to formally adopt the National Charter and Bylaws establishing the first National American Muslim Democratic Caucus.
AMDC intends to serve as a guiding presence in your Local, State and National democratic institutions. We believe that legal, economic, social justice and equity would only come about when American Muslims are equally represented among the nation’s political decision-makers. We are here to provide you tools, get you started, support and be a conduit for expressing your innovative solutions for an inclusive Democratic party. American Muslims are on the front line to stopping institutional and systematic discrimination and prejudice against our community. As members of society, we all share in the responsibility of addressing marginalization through participation in the political processes that effect public policy, and strive to give voice to Muslim Democrats in our nations politics. Join others like you across the country in our diverse and national network to strengthen American Muslim political participation and decision-making power.
